Billing Policy

This page explains what you pay for, when you are charged, and how to cancel. For shipping and refunds on hardware, see Shipping & Returns.
1. What you buy once
A Swellframe is a one-time purchase. It includes the forecast service that the device needs to do its job, and that is yours for good. There is no monthly fee for the core forecast, no renewal for it, and it will not move behind a paywall later.
2. What is optional
Subscriptions are optional and add extras on top of the forecast that is already included. They are billed annually, never monthly:
- Plus, $9.99 a year. One device, one sport, switch your sport once a year.
- Pro, $19.99 a year. Up to two devices, two sports, locked for 12 months.
- Unlimited, $29.99 a year. Unlimited devices, every sport, switch any time.
Every paid tier includes all premium features. The tiers differ in how many devices and sports you can run, not in what they unlock.
3. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full card details on our servers. All prices are in US dollars. Sales tax is applied where we are required to collect it and is shown before you confirm the order.
4. Renewals
An annual subscription renews automatically each year at the listed price, using the payment method on file. This includes the plan that continues after your included membership (see section 5). If a renewal price ever changes, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, with enough notice for you to cancel first.
If a renewal payment fails, we will retry it and email you. Premium features pause if the payment cannot be collected, and your device falls back to the free forecast. Nothing is deleted while this is sorted out.
5. Activating your included membership
Every Swellframe includes 6 months of Unlimited. Some orders also include a 1-year Plus, Pro or Unlimited subscription, which starts right after the included months. To switch on that included membership, you add a payment method (processed by Stripe) during account setup or when you pair your frame. Nothing is charged at that time.
When your included months and any subscription bought with your Swellframe have run out, your plan renews automatically once a year at the listed price ($9.99 Plus, $19.99 Pro, $29.99 Unlimited) until you cancel. We email you a renewal reminder before the first charge. You can cancel any time from Account, then Plan, and you are never charged before your included time ends.
If you would rather not add a card, choose Not now and use the Free plan. Your Swellframe keeps working with the basic forecast and one spot, and no card is ever needed. Kickstarter lifetime backers are never asked for a card. A subscription bought as part of your device order is prepaid for its full term and is not refundable.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel an annual subscription any time from Account, then Plan (Manage plan) in the portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
Past charges are not refunded when you cancel partway through a year. If you think you were charged in error, email us and we will look at it.
7. Changing plans
You can switch between plans any time from the same place in the portal, with fair credit for what you have already paid toward the plan you are leaving.
8. Refunds on subscriptions
Subscriptions are generally non-refundable once the term has started, and the cancellation terms above apply instead. If something has gone wrong on our end, such as a duplicate charge or a plan you did not sign up for, email [email protected] and we will make it right.
9. Failed and disputed payments
If you do not recognise a charge, please contact us before opening a dispute with your bank. It is almost always faster, and we can usually explain or refund it the same day.
10. Your legal rights
Nothing on this page limits any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.
